Courtney Kattengell

Courtney is originally from New Orleans but spent several years living in New York City pursuing her undergraduate degree in Theatre/Musical Theatre from Marymount Manhattan College. After graduation, Kattengell went back to New Orleans where she landed supporting roles in performances such as Gypsy and Hair. However despite being on the other side of the country, SDSU was always in the back of her mind. “I have known about this program at SDSU since I was in high school– two of my undergraduate professors went here,” said Kattengell. She finally decided it was time to make the move after she was accepted into the MFA program here at SDSU. Musical theatre is a perfect fit for Kattengell, who admits breaking into song on a regular basis. “I am the person that sings at home when I’m just doing normal things,” says Kattengell. “It’s just natural for me to break into song.” After finishing the program, Courtney has big plans for the future that include running her own theatre company or starting a theatre program at a university.
