Kline Swonger is a San Diego based sculptor, muralist, and placemaking designer currently earning her Masters of Fine Arts in sculpture at SDSU School of Art + Design. Originally from Los Angeles, she received a double major BA in Art and Environmental Studies from Pitzer College. She later went on to earned her AS in Landscape Architecture at San Diego Mesa College. Through her sculptural installations, she explores spatial and psychological relationships with place, liminal space, perception, ritual, and memory. She is a recent recipient of the SDSU Art Council Ambassadors 2019 Award, the 2019 SDSU MFA Graduate Exhibit Art Produce Residency Award, and the 2018 SDSU President’s Purchase Award. She enjoys creating and questioning sense of place through her studio practice as well as collaborative projects that engage community.
